Cure for Itchy Skin
Baking soda can help treat itchy skin—such as sunburn, allergic reactions, poison ivy or poison oak, itches from bug bites and bee stings—bevcause of its anti-inflammatory, antibacerial, and alkaline properties.
To do this, mix 1tsp baking soda with enough water or coconut oil to make a paste. Apply it to the areas of concern. Leave it on for about five minutes and then rinse. Do this to the affected area about twice a day.
You could also add 1–2 cups of baking soda to a lukewarm bath.
Exfoliating is important for removing dead skin cells and any damage from every day life—such as grime, dirt, and pollution—that do not always come off with our regular face wash.
.Honey and baking soda both have anti-fungal and antibacterial properties….so both are great ingredients for making your own exfoliators.
Honey also acts as a great moisturizer.
Combine 1tsp baking soda in the palm of your hand. Add 1Tbsp organic honey—or 1/2Tbsp water—and form into a thick, grainy paste.
Massage the paste onto your face, using a circular motion.
Let dry for 1min.
Rinse the paste off thoroughly with warm water.
Finally apply your usual skin treatment toner, serum, and/or moisturizer so that you skin does not feel irritated.
Do this once a week in order to keep your skin looking fresh.

Foot Bath
We’ve already seen how baking soda can be used to exfoliate your face, but now let’s see how baking soda can be used to exfoliate your feet.
Exfoliating your feet on a regular basis will remove bacteria , prevent foot odor and toenail fungus, keep our feet feeling soft, and keep our feet looking pretty—especially important during sandal season.
- Dissolve 3Tbsp baking soda in a bucket of warm water.
- Soak your feet in the water for 10 to 20 minutes.
- Use a pumice stone to gently scrub the “gunk” off the soles of your feet.
- Now wash your feet with regular water, wipe them dry, apply a moisturising lotion, and put some socks on so that your feet stay protected.
If your feet are sandal-ready, do this at least every two weeks..
If your feet are not sandal-ready, do this three times a week until they are.

Mask
There are many reasons to use baking soda to create a mask for your face, including the fact that it…
- absorbs excess oil from your face
- adds that much-needed glow into your skin
- clears, shrinks, and opens up your pores because of its astringent-like properties
- gently exfoliates the layer of dead skin cells on your face, revealing a fresh layer of skin below
- helps banish and dry out acne and pimples
- helps boost the skin’s collagen
- helps prevent further breakouts because of it is anti-bacterial properties
- prevents your pores from clogging up with dirt, creating even more blackheads and acne
Here’s how to make a mask using baking soda…
Create a paste…Combine 2Tbsp baking soda, 1tsp lemon juice, and 1tsp honey. in a small bowl. Slowly add enough water until you have a paste-like consistency. Add more baking soda if the mixture is too runny, You want it thick enough to easily apply to your skin.
Apply…First clean your skin with a face wash. Next apply a thin layer of the paste evenly on your face and neck, using a circular motion.
Wait…Wait 15min for the paste to become completely dry. It is normal for the mask to cause some tingling and tightening, but if your skin feels like it’s burning, remove the mask immediately.
Wash…Now wash the mask off completely with a damp washcloth and lukewarm water, using a circular motion. Be careful not to rub too hard and irritate the skin. Dry off your face with a clean towel.
Moisturize…Finally splash your face with cold water to rinse one last time, and then apply a light moisturizer.
