This book sparked my interest because I wanted to pull off the perfect bridal shower for a dear friend.

The author of the book is Will Torrent…who has also written Pâtisserie at Home, released in April 2013…and Chocolate at Home, released in 2014.

The book begins with a brief history of afternoon tea and how it came to be such a British institution. The remainder of the book is arranged by season, with additional chapters on a classic afternoon tea as well as a “showstopper” afternoon tea.

 The book explains the  techniques involved in patisserie, baking, chocolate work and serving savoury dishes.

Recipes include classics such as shortbread and scones…classics with a twist such as crab mayonnaise eclairs..more adventurous recipes such as friands and almondine…and recipes for basic jams, spreads, butters and curds to serve alongside your menu. 

There is a total of eighty easy to follow recipes and gorgeous mouth watering photographs…including six guest recipes from top restaurants and hotels, including The Ritz, The Dorchester, The Gramercy Tavern, The Berkeley, Les Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and Harrods. 

This book is an invaluable source of inspiration as you prepare more delicate foods to include in your more delicate lunch and brunch menus.
